Apolipoprotein B (Apo B)

Apolipoprotein B (Apo B) is produced by the liver and is found in very low density lipoproteins and LDL. Apo B-48 is a shortened form of Apo B and lacks the LDL-receptor region. It is produced only in the intestine and is found in chylomicrons. Apo B functions as a recognition signal for the cellular binding and internalization of LDL particles by the Apo B/E receptor.
